Research Interests
Development of a New Method for Shock Testing of Materials and Characterization of Smart Composites
The response of materials for shock or blast loading conditions has become an important parameter in designing machines, vehicles and structures in the present times. However, no standard test method is available to characterize materials under such loading conditions. This project is focused on developing a shock test method that is capable of evaluating material response for high energy shock loading. The method will be used to evaluate the shock properties of polymer matrix laminated and particulate composites. These properties will be compared with the quasi-static and impact properties of these materials. The primary results obtained in this project will help in demonstrating the scope and scientific importance of the shock testing technique. Anton Talalayev is assisting him on the project.
